HCM can go undiagnosed or be misdiagnosed because symptoms are nonspecific, and people with HCM can have mild or few symptoms. Moreover, symptoms can be dynamic and patients may adapt their lifestyle to their new limitations. HCM is diagnosed through a combination of medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests such as ECG, echocardiogram, and cardiac MRI.
